Five Arguments in Favour of Joomla

By on

It’s rare to find Joomla being assessed on its own merit these days as each and every time a CMS is brought into conversation, comparisons with WordPress are bound to follow. This is the same with every content management system on the market right now as there’s no denying that WordPress sets the bar as the world’s favourite. This does not however mean there’s no room for rivals and no reason to consider anything other than good-old WP.

In terms of Joomla, it’s a genuinely excellent tool with which anyone can build a website for pretty much any purpose across the board. From powerful eCommerce to essential business communication and right through to entertainment and hobbyists, scope is literally limitless.      five-arguments-in-favour-of-joomla

So in terms of selling points…perhaps not the best choice of wording as Joomla is free to download and use…what works in favour of Joomla as a CMS of choice, given the competition?

1 – It’s Free to Use

Well, right off the bat it’s a good idea to remember that Joomla is 100% free to get started with and use, which makes it difficult to poke holes in anything it offers – at least in terms of value for money. Even if you eventually make your Joomla website into a lucrative business venture, you still won’t owe the folks behind the brand a penny – unless of course you choose to go for paid plugins and the like.

2 – Abundance of Plugins

Speaking of plugins…which Joomla refers to as extensions…there are more to choose from and play with than you’ll need in this lifetime or the next. At last count, the official Joomla directory contained well in excess of 4,000 extensions that can be used to enhance any given website – plus the archive is being added to all the time. Sure, this might not be quite as high as the number on offer for WordPress users, but it’s still more than you’ll ever need.

3 – Ease of Use

Joomla does to some extent require at least a modicum of savvy to get going with, but at the same time it’s not nearly as difficult as so many other CMS options and general site building programs on the market right now. What’s more, there’s endless scope for those with existing experience to take their skills to the next level and beyond.

4 – Modules

Joomla modules are additional applications that can be brought over to the existing website to enhance its usability or bring new features into the mix. One example would be the PayPal module which would see a button added to the site to facilitate PayPal payments.

5 – The Joomla Community

And finally, WordPress might be considered the supreme leader in CMS stakes, but as a Joomla user you’ll still be in very good company. There are thousands of Joomla forums and community groups based all around the world and covering every imaginable subject, which means that no matter what you need to know or what tips you have to share, you’ll never be far from the extended Joomla family.
